DENGUE - CHINA: (HONG KONG) FIRST LOCALLY ACQUIRED CASE

Hong Kong health authorities are investigating the city's first locally acquired dengue fever case of the year. The individual developed symptoms consistent with dengue infection and has been confirmed to have the virus. Investigations suggest the infection was likely contracted at a construction worksite. In response, government departments are implementing control and prevention measures, including site inspections, mosquito control operations, and temporary health assessments for workers. A temporary health station has also been established in the patient's residential area to assess residents with compatible symptoms. Public health education and outreach efforts are underway, and the public is reminded to take precautions against mosquito bites, especially as mosquito activity typically peaks in the coming months.
